Quest for fire (Movie response)

Quest for fire
In “Quest for Fire” by Jean-Jacques Annaud there are lots of technical features used but the ones I will be covering are low angle shot, panning and music these features show the aspect of survival.
One of the features used is the low angle shot this camera shot is when the camera is closer to ground level and looking up at something J-J Annaud uses it when the mammoths are standing there threatening the ulams. Using this feature makes the mammoths look big and scary, especially to the ulams.
The second feature used is panning this feature is when the camera is stationary and it slowly swivels round giving a view of a wide area. In this movie J-J Annaud uses the pan shot on a baron empty landscape at the end of the movie after the scene when Ika and Naoh are sitting down looking at the moon, ika is pregnant I think they use that shot after that scene because it shows that it is the start of civilization.
The last feature is music J-J Annaud uses this feature throughout the movie it is especially helpful in this movie because there is no words used the music helps set the scene. An example of this is when Naoh is in the cave watching the human make fire this is a new sight to him and J-J helps the viewer understand that by the way he uses music in this scene the music is building up to the moment when the fire starts it is very dramatic music.
Overall I think J-J Annaud uses technical features extremely well in this movie it really helps the viewer’s understand the movie more and feel more realistic.

Harry Potter

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Brief summary: The movie begins with Harry Potter being left at the doorstep of his uncle vernon and aunt Petunia's house by the headmaster of Hogwarts witchcraft and wizardry. The next scene is when harry is no longer an infant he is 11 years old, he sleeps in a cupboard under the stairs and is treated very badly, it is his cousin Dudlys birthday and the family decides to go to the zoo. Dudly is making fun of a snake in one of the enclosures and shoves harry out of the way this makes harry mad and he accidently makes the glass on the enclosure dissapear. His uncle vernon is not happy about this so he moves the family away to the middle of nowhere. One night harry is lying on the ground when Hagrid keeper of keys and grounds at hogwarts busts down the door and tells harry that he is a wizard, At first Harry is in denial but Hagrid tells him the story of how his parents were wizards to and so Harry ends up going with Hagrid to Hogwarts and meets his to best friends Ronald Weasly and Hermione Granger. From there the 3 friendsgo through school together but one day they find out that somebody is trying to steal the philosopher's stone which is kept underneath hogwarts so the 3 of them go an adventure to stop the thief from taking the stone.

A key moment: a key moment in this movie is when Harry is at the zoo and accidentally makes the glass on one of the enclosures dissapear. I think here the director is trying to show the veiwers that Harry is a wizard and is capible of doing amazing things he just doesn't know it yet. I was stunned at this because its not something that would happen everyday.

Another key moment: another key moment is the final fight between Voldemort and Harry, when voldemort is trying to steal the philosopher's stone Harry confronts him and uses the stone to kill voldemort, this scene is one of the more important ones in the movie because it is the final fighting scene that will decide who wins and what happens. I felt amused watching this part of the movie it was very entertaining because you were unable to tell what was coming next.
