"The Cave"
Purpose: I felt the the purpose of this chapter is to show the importance of survival and to show how much times have changed, it also shows the value of fire in the Neandertal times.Brief Summary: Naoh and his two men Amoukar and Gaw go on a quest for fire after there tribe attacks a neighbouring tribe and the attack fails then gets there own fire put out. On there quest they rest in a cave it turns out to be a gray bears cave. Naoh and his men must kill the bear using nothing but there sharp wits and clubs.
A key moment: A key moment to me was when the Ulam tribe trys to overtake a neighbouring village but gets forced to retreat and get their own fires put out, I felt stunned that there plan had backfired like that now they had no village and no fire.
Another key moment: Another key moment was the final fight between the grey bear and the men. In this part of "The Cave" the bear breaks through the stone wall that the men had put up for protection and starts to attack the men. The men trick the bear using their smarts and Naoh starts smashing the bears paws so the bear can no longer attack followed shortly by Naoh smashing the bears head in the finaly killing the gray bear ending the brutal fight. I felt amused when i was listening to this part of the chapter because it is not something that you come across every day, It was interesting. I also felt disturbed because as I was listening to this moment I was getting graphic images in my mind but I understand they did what was nessary to survive this proves to me how much times have changed.
